HTC Merge misses rumored launch, appears on Verizon’s site

HTC Merge misses rumored launch, appears on Verizon’s site

The HTC Merge leaked back in September and was rumored to launch at Verizon on November 18th, but it failed to appear. The device briefly appeared on Verizon’s site yesterday, but it was quickly taken down.

It is widely accepted that the Merge is Verizon’s version of the HTC Desire Z, but it features a normal slide-out keyboard instead of the unique z-hinge found on the Desire Z and G2.

New rumors suggest that Verizon might have delayed the Merge to make it one of their first 4G LTE handsets. Verizon recently said their 4G handsets were coming in February, so we might be waiting a couple more months if the Merge is getting upgraded to LTE.

If you are on Verizon, would you rather have a Merge with 3G now or wait a couple months for a possible 4G LTE version?
