Facebook's New Messaging System Now Reaching Some iPhones

Well, with all the buzz Facebook generated over their event last week, lots of people speculated we'd finally see @facebook.com email becoming a reality, but at the end, it was just another new messaging system that sort of works like if you had a Facebook email address, but don't. What's cool about this new service though, is that it'll integrate SMS, IM, Facebook messages, and it'll do those same tricks on your iPhone. Facebook is slowly releasing this update to its iPhone users already, and it'll pop up on your account just like Places did, though some other formalities have to happen before that.

First, you'll get an invitation once the feature is available for your Facebook account. If you accept (and why shouldn't you?), you'll be getting a sort of @facebook.com address that'll sadly only work within the interface for now. It'll also let you verify your SMS phone number, and chat login. That's pretty much it. The next time you launch the app, you'll be notified of the change.

We'll see how long it takes Facebook to roll this out, because as it stands, not very many of us have seen the light of this yet.
