Ping Arrives On The iPad

apple ping logoApple has added Ping, it's music social networking programme, to the iPadahead of the upcoming iOS 4.2 update.

The update will allow iPad users to access the social networking platform from a new button added to the bottom of the iTunes app. Ping allows iTunes users to share their music choices with friends, as well as allowing them to see what they are listening to or downloading in real-time.

The iPad app will automatically update itself to add Ping when users access it, with no additional download required.

The move comes just days after Apple announced Ping's integration with Twitter, allowing users to share their iTunes activity with their Twitter followers.

Twitter also said that by linking their accounts with their Ping profile, users will be able to send out automatic tweets whenever they purchase, download, comment or like a song.

Ping gained a user base of 1 million iTunes users within 24 hours of being launched in August. At this point, only one third of iTunes users had upgraded to iTunes 10, which adds the Ping platform.

However, Facebook continues to remain absent from Ping. Will Ping be able to survive without Facebook integration? Leave us your thoughts below.
