Zynga's immensely popular FarmVille game has been replaced by Phrases as the top application on Facebook.
The application, which has been developed by Takeoff Monkey, allows users to create and generate status messages, quizzes, post sayings and images. Phrases has managed to garner a user base of 54.3 million monthly users. Players can also share quizzes with their Facebook friends as well.
FarmVille has slipped to the second spot with its 53.9 million followers, but remains the most popular game on the Facebook.
However, according to Gamasutra, Phrases is not expected to hold the top spot for long as it has been losing users every single week. This is due to the fact Takeoff Monkey has removed the app from the US version of Facebook without any explanation.
Zynga, despite Farmville losing the top spot, still owns five of the top seven games on Facebook which include Texas HoldEm Poker, FrontierVille, Mafia Wars, and Cafe World. The games maker is also planning its first international games release, Cityville, with a beta version expected in the next few weeks.
