Google, the world’s famous search engine giant, maybe transforming itself into something bigger than just a database for the world wide web. Last January, the company has launched its flagship smartphone, signalling its entry into the mobile market. This time, Google has announced its Cr-48 Netbook, the world’s first chrome OS netbook.
The Cr-48 Chrome Netbook’s release may come as a surprise since Google has been hinting only of the company’s very own Operating system early this year. But the plain black, no design, no logo Cr-48 Chrome Netbook looks so freakin bland that people are sensing it as a marketing ploy for the Google OS. Whichever is true, only time will tell.
So, what is so special with Google’s Cr-48 Chrome Netbook. Last week, engadget leaked out reviews of its keyboard. According to the post, Cr-48 Netbook’s keyboard is void of function keys but is full of Apple Keyboard-style actions. The caps lock key is also none existent being replaced with an internet search button, which will enrage internet trolls and screenwriters alike. The external body has zero design– no logos, no branding designs– and comes in pitch black.
A quick visit to the Google Chrome’s homepage reveals the gadgets specs which includes a 12.1 inch screen, Full size keyboard, Oversized clickpad, Webcam, Flash storage, Qualcomm Gobi 3G chip for Verizon data in the US, 802.11n dual-band WiFi, and battery life of 8+ hours of active use and 8+ days of standby.
The website also highlights the Cr-48 Netbook’s unique features such as its 10 second booting speed, universal “syncing” system, unlimited connectivity, excellent security built in, real time updates, and a multitude of amazing apps in store.
The site simple statement seems to explain it all:
“Chrome notebooks are built and optimized for the web, where you already spend most of your computing time. So you get a faster, simpler and more secure experience without all the headaches of ordinary computers.”
According to Google, the Cr-48 Netbook superb speed allows website to load quickly and smoothly. It is said this baby can boot in a bat of an eyelash and resume from sleep instantly.
