Android Market Down For Maintenance On 11/18. Anything Big?

Google's Eric Schmidt mentioned at the Web 2.0 Summit that Android 2.3 codenamed Gingerbread could be out in the "next few week" and while this is as vague as it can get -- with reference to short term -- Google is preparing something Market related that could be big.

While some developers report that they haven't received such letters in the past, Google is sending word out that the Market will be down for maintenance on November 18 (tomorrow) for some six hours, period in which developers will not be able to publish updates for their applications. There's no word (not even rumor) yet related to what this update might so feel free to share us your thoughts in the comment section. Here's the letter:

Hello,

We’re writing to inform you about a planned service outage impacting Android Market that requires your attention.

We plan to perform maintenance on the Android Market Developer Console on Thursday 18 November 2010 from 10AM to 4PM Pacific Standard Time. During this time, there will be view-only access to the Developer Console at http://market.android.com/publish. You will be able to view your list of applications and error reports; however, you will not be able to upload new apps or make updates to existing apps. The publish status of your applications and use of the Android Market app on phones should not be impacted.

Thanks, and we appreciate your patience while we work to improve Android Market.

Regards,
The Android Market Team
